A Simpler Time

July 16, 2009

The other day, while watching one my favorite reality TV shows, I was reminded of a time, well, before reality TV shows; a simpler time.  These days everything is so complicated, stressful and insane that it’s easy to forget about a time when:

  1.  Rosie O’Donnell was nice and funny and not a scary, loud, obnoxious, crafting loony.  (Need I say more?)rosie

  2. Tom Cruise wasn’t molesting Joey from Dawson’s Creek or raving about Scientology.  (Run Katie Run!)katieandtom

  3. You could carry a sharp nail file on an airplane without being “randomly” selected for a cavity search. (They can actually detect stuff like this now…sorry for the partial nudity.) airport_xray_scanner

  4. Your spouse didn’t ignore you at dinner to text message friends, family, coworkers, and the stranger at the next table.

  5. The only reality show was The Real World.

  6. Nobody knew what a blog was.

  7. Children played jump rope and Nintendo rather than making YouTube videos in their backyards.

  8. A tweet was something a bird did outside your window…although both are very annoying.

  9. You had to dress up for work, and no, I don’t mean wearing your “nice” jeans (but thank God for that, I would die if I had to wear panty hose everyday).

  10. MySpace was that comfy area at the end of the couch with the perfect view of the TV, and not an Internet based social media tool/medium for child molesters to meet up with unsuspecting youth.

Ahhh, those were the days.  Everything seemed to make more sense.

Yes I remember the day when my husband talked to me at dinner too. Maybe he is replying to all of YOUR Chads text messages?
